My Story
I’m Ramoy. Born and raised in Jamaica. I grew up outside — cutting, planting, working the land under the Caribbean sun. Landscaping isn’t something I chose. It’s something I’ve done my whole life.
I cooked on a cruise ship for a while (great story, ask me about it), fell in love with a Canadian woman, and moved to Vernon in 2015. Traded palm trees for pine trees, but the work stayed the same. I spent years with landscaping companies across the Okanagan, learning the soil, the seasons, and what makes things grow out here.
Then I started Cool Runnings, named after you-know-what, because I’m proud of where I come from. I bring that Caribbean energy to every job. Show up with a smile, work hard, leave your yard looking beautiful. That’s the whole business plan.

"Wait — you were a cook on a cruise ship?"
Yeah man! I was cooking in the galley, sailing all over the Caribbean. Met a beautiful Canadian woman onboard, fell in love, and next thing you know I’m living in Vernon, BC shoveling snow for the first time in my life. Life has a funny way of working out.
"So why landscaping?"
I grew up in Jamaica with my hands in the soil. That wasn’t a hobby, that was life. Cutting, planting, clearing land in the heat. When I got to Canada, landscaping wasn’t some career pivot. It’s the thing I’ve been doing since I was a kid. I just do it in a colder country now.
"Why "Cool Runnings"?"
Come on, you know why! I’m a proud Jamaican doing his thing in Canada. The name is a nod to where I come from. Plus it makes people smile before I even show up — and that’s kind of the whole point.
"What keeps you going?"
Honestly? That look on a client’s face when the job is done. I like to put a smile on my client face. That’s what gets me up in the morning. The sun, the work, the hustle, yeah. But that moment at the end? That’s everything.
